Gwon Shinhong earned her B.F.A. and M.F.A in Western Art, from Chung-Ang University College of Arts.

Gwon paints vibrantly imagined senior citizens. The figure in the artist’s works does not live a bleak and helpless life. Rather, they live a purpose-driven life of clear agency.

Whether the figure is surfing foaming waves or gripping the gas throttle on a motorcycle, there is vibrant and cheerful energy, not unlike that of a younger generation.
